Installing Remora
One installer covers both sides — the machine you connect from (viewer) and the machine you connect to (host) run the same app. Installation typically takes under a minute and no account is required.
1. Download
Grab Remora_x64-setup.exe from the download page: remora.embedra.net/download. The installer is roughly 4 MB. Only download it from this official address — don't run copies distributed by other sites.
2. Install
- Run the downloaded
Remora_x64-setup.exe. - If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen warning, that's expected — we explain why and how to proceed in the SmartScreen guide (short version: "More info" → "Run anyway").
- Follow the setup wizard. Remora installs per-user and does not ask for admin rights. The installer is available in English and Turkish.
WebView2 note (Windows 10)
Remora's interface runs on Microsoft's WebView2 runtime. Windows 11 ships with WebView2 built in — nothing to do there. On Windows 10, if it's missing, the installer downloads it automatically; that step needs an internet connection and can add a minute or two to the install.
System requirements
- Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). Other platforms aren't supported yet.
- Network: Outbound internet access. Remora reaches the pairing server over HTTPS (443); video flows between the two machines over WebRTC. No inbound ports or port forwarding needed. For locked-down corporate networks, see troubleshooting.
- Hardware: No special requirements; video is encoded with H.264 and runs on any reasonably modern machine.
- Account: No account needed to connect. If you want Pro, you can sign up with an email inside the app.
- Admin rights: Not needed to install or for daily use. You only need to run Remora as administrator on the host if you want to remotely control UAC prompts and elevated windows — details in troubleshooting.
Updates
Remora checks for a new version at launch and shows an in-app update banner when one is available. Update packages are cryptographically signed; nothing installs unless its signature verifies. Once you've installed once, you don't need to track releases.
